We are a boutique, family-run purveyor of Brazilian imported exotics, specializing in Brazilian Cherry. Deep industry connections forged over decades of sector experience have enabled us, despite our small business stature, to streamline an otherwise complicated supply chain (i.e. cut middlemen) to offer our customers a premium product at a discount to market pricing.

We work closely with our partners in Brazil to source wood of the highest quality origins and exclusively sell the highest (known as "clear") grade of hardwood that's available in the industry.

Our Team

Dan Cosgrove

President, Founder

Dan has over 35 years of experience in the hardwood flooring industry, specializing in exotics from Brazil. Dan started on the coatings side of the business, where he designing floor finishing systems (both oil- and water-based) for difficult exotic-tropical wood species. For the next 20 years, he went on to hold regional and national sales management roles at various industry leaders including Minwax, Duron, Basic Coatings, and WFI. He’s been an involved member of the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) for 30+ years.

In 2002, Dan started Brazilian Direct with a simple goal: to offer the finest Brazilian exotics available with a customer-centric approach online. To this day – sixteen years later – Dan’s leadership and vision have kept Brazilian Direct close to its roots of honesty, respect, transparency and outstanding personalized service. Dan runs the sales team at BD and plays a critical role at the management & operational level. He, above all, believes an informed, educated customer is a happy customer.

Dan is a family man who resides in Pennsylvania with his wife, Jo Ann, and is the proud father of two sons who are both alumni of Boston College. An avid football follower, he is a lifetime Philadelphia Eagles fan. 

Ryan Cosgrove


Ryan was born and grew up outside Philadelphia and graduated from Boston College with degrees in Mathematics & Economics. Through the family business, Ryan has had exposure to the hardwood flooring industry for several years.

Ryan focuses on analytics at the business and supply-chain level, allowing data to drive and improve the customer experience. He assists in digital marketing and market research as well as financial modeling and business forecasting.

Ryan prioritizes friends, travel, Philly sports and reading in his free time. 

Evan Cosgrove

eCommerce Specialist

Evan was raised outside of Philadelphia before going to school in Massachusetts, where he graduated from Boston College with a degree in Political Science, Islamic Civilizations and Arabic Studies. From a young age, his interest in technology and his exposure to the hardwood flooring industry spawned an affinity for the eCommerce space.

Focusing on marketing, website design, and user experience, Evan works to improve organic reach and bolster the company brand. He assists in SEO, HTML coding, and company advertising.

In his free time, Evan is a self-proclaimed foodie and spends as much time as he can outside.
